Mary Kathryn LaVallee Stocks has joined the team at EpiCity as the Director of Project Management, primarily working with Epic Development, EpiCity’s sister company specializing in small commercial and custom home building and design.
As a member of EpiCity Real Estate Services’ fourth generation, Mary Kathryn is excited to have joined the company that her great-grandparents, D. L. and Florence Stokes, began ninety years ago. In her role as Director of Project Management, she brings her expertise in planning and organization to bear, currently facilitating improved construction operations, lending, and loan management. In this role, she works closely with her father, Jim LaVallee, Vice President of EpiCity and Director of Development and Strategic Planning.
An early entrepreneur, Mary Kathryn has initiated several startups, including Nailbabys and, most recently, OrderUp Design, a professional home organizing company which she has operated since receiving her Master’s degree from the University of Louisville in 2018. She sees her new position as a natural progression of her career. “I’m happy to be a part of the team, bringing my experience and expertise into all areas of the business,” says Mary Kathryn. “The Epic Team was looking for someone task-oriented and organized. My own business experience as an owner and organizer seems to be a great fit and perfect timing.”
Mary Kathryn has had a very busy six months. She and her then fiancé bought a “fixer-upper” in March, she started her new position in June, and was married in September!

Becoming a part of the family business has been a smooth transition, as she has always been involved in some way, even without an official job or title. “I have seen my Dad and ‘Uncle Cousin’ Tom (Stokes) continue to build the family business all of my life, taking care of the people in their world every day,” said Mary Kathryn. “This was instilled in them by their grandparents and parents, and they’ve instilled it in me, my brother, and my cousins.”
Mary Kathryn spent time in her high school years working for the business and remembers when she and her best friend watched the foreclosure list every day with a highlighter in hand. That’s just one of the many experiences she had as a youth working for EpiCity.
Like her parents and great-grandfather D. L. Stokes before her, Mary Kathryn enjoys a very green thumb. She is creating a beautiful garden around her new home where she and her husband, Griffin, are the parents of their dogs, Oliver and Ruger, and cat, Booley.
Welcome back, Mary Kathryn! We at EpiCity are thrilled to have you back.
