Is Your Office Space a ‘Breath of Fresh Air?’

Stop for a moment and take a look around. Walk outside and breathe in the fresh air, take time to literally smell the flowers and grab some Vitamin D on a sunny day. In today’s world, we seem to be connected to our offices almost 24/7, so it’s important to have a welcoming environment outside, as well as inside.

Being outside is important to everyday living, and landscaping not only affects your employees’ well being, but it also affects your business’ productivity. In a survey by Quantum Workplace, the number one way employers can use their location to increase employee engagement, and even recruit top talent, is adding outdoor workspace. Breathing in fresh air is great and highly beneficial for employees and employers. Encouraging employees to venture off for a brief 10-minute walk outdoors every day can help them clear their mind and then get back on track for the rest of the day.

EpiCity’s latest adaptive reuse project, Armour Junction, is a lifestyle community made up of flex commercial space, retail and residential units in The Sweetwater Design District. The office spaces have an abundance of natural light and it is adjacent to the planned path of the Atlanta Beltline. When completed each space will have a canopy with an outdoor working and relaxing area. There will be a meditation garden and other amenities to promote wellness and relaxation.

At the Wall Street Conyers Office Condominiums outdoor space is an inviting amenity. There are plenty of areas to sit outdoors to eat, meet and relax, all with a beautifully landscaped view. When the weather is nice, it gets very busy outdoors, with people walking, eating lunch, working with their iPads or laptops, and talking. Teachers from a nearby school also come over to grab some fresh air on their breaks and enjoy the flowers.

In the Powers Ferry Business Park there are outdoor tables with umbrellas, grills, and plenty of room to walk. There are people who walk nearly every day, all around the five buildings and the green space. Eye-catching flowers are abundant, and the area always looks fresh and clean.

The Lumberyard, EpiCity’s office loft project in West Midtown, has a t-shaped interior courtyard abundantly landscaped with brick paved planters. Large doors open from the spaces into the courtyard for an alfresco feeling through the day. And its most popular hangout is Bone Garden Cantina, where you can choose to dine outside, soaking up the atmosphere of the area.

According to High Grove Partners’ 2015 Annual Report, office campuses are encouraging people to linger a little longer outside. We support this at our commercial office spaces. So, what are you waiting for? Go outside, kick back and rejuvenate in Atlanta’s beautiful outdoors!
