Working with business owners like Akrosphere to ensure that their space fits their needs is the norm, not the exception, at EpiCity. According to Naomi Clark of Planning Interiors, part of EpiCity’s design team, when EpiCity first meets with a new client, they give them a plan to imagine their space. “Tom (Stokes) lets people make their wish list and we help them realize what their space can be,” said Naomi. EpiCity has many wonderful stories where it has renovated, revitalized and reimagined office space to match the needs of its customers. Here are just a few examples of some unique transformations.
Mason Fine Art and Events in Armour Junction:
Its gallery features three large exhibition spaces that provide for intimate experiences, as well as views of large format two- and three-dimensional works. The space was originally an industrial warehouse and EpiCity needed to create the space for a duel functioning business – during the day, the space is a traditional art gallery, and in the evenings it’s an event venue. It was tricky to design the aesthetics and functionality of both types of spaces, especially with adhering to all of the different codes. The more than 20,400 square feet space includes wide open, high ceilings in the “front of the house” for the art gallery and event venue, and the “back of the house” has a catering kitchen, break room, office space, conference room, bridal suite, and general storage. A special feature that was also incorporated was an opening to be able to drive a car through if they were showing a car in the “front of the house.” Several of the windows and doors were replaced due to age and aesthetics, and lighting was a big part of the renovations, too
American Standard in Powers Ferry Business Park:
American Standard needed to expand its space and decided to create an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art sales demonstration room and showroom, using its products as a focus, new branding and vibrant colors. Many of the traditional build-out steps were taken — spray insulation, drywall finishing, painting, millwork, flooring, and wall build-outs to create the new shell. The twist was that much of the work focused on the restrooms and the new demonstration space and showroom. EpiCity’s team used American Standard products for restrooms, including new toilets, mirrors, vanities, and sinks. This way the entire space shows off their products. The team was also able to create the demonstration facility, coordinating American Standard’s design and materials into a functional space. The design allows the space to be changed as products change, and enables new products to be featured. At any given time there are two dozen or more fully functioning commodes, sinks, faucets, and shower heads in the demonstration area. The plumbing necessary to accomplish this is mind boggling. Another major component to the new space is the showroom. Home Depot is a customer for American Standard, so a showroom exactly replicating a section of the plumbing aisle in a Home Depot store was created with tall ceilings for racks, to demonstrate the full line of American Standard products. The facility was transformed from the simple and affordable office space and warehouse space into a fully functional showroom with full demonstration capabilities.
Definition 6 in Armour Junction:
Definition 6’s CEO presented his vision of a collaborative, creative and inviting environment for his team and EpiCity embraced all of their ideas and found solutions to meet their expectations. The space was essentially rebuilt. The extension of the “break-room” harvested an incredibly spacious “bistro” with roll-up garage type doors leading to a covered outdoor patio. When people walk through the door, they wanted them to not just see Definition 6, but also to hear what was happening and to feel the energy in the space. The team created extensive conference rooms, lots of collaborative areas, spacious offices, and open work stations with room to expand, and glass and larger windows to bring in the light. Definition 6 was a clean build out, with bright lighting, including daylight at all of the stations, white coloring, open space, and a very inviting feel.
And many more:
Other projects where EpiCity has transformed space to meet customers’ needs include The Leaders Lyceum, which has really large lounge areas, old school glass block to form dividers for the conference room and individualized rooms showing off people’s personalities. There is also a large break room in back with glass so you can see out into the woods. At Cinema Concepts the interior looks like a real studio in Hollywood. There have been reconfigurations of rooms here and there over the last 27 years as well, and EpiCity understands the group’s production schedule and that the renovations can’t impact Cinema Concepts’ business. In Tin Lizzy’s Cantina’s corporate office its reception desk is a mock bar. And Monster Energy’s space used to be a large lab and now it has a giant breakroom, boardroom, and industrial concrete floor with a high polish which is quite spectacular and looks like a completely different space.
