Mason Fine Art and Events is the new arts destination in Atlanta’s Armour Junction (near the Sweetwater Design District) at 415 Plasters Avenue. Its gallery features three large exhibition spaces that provide for intimate experiences, as well as views of large format two- and three-dimensional works. According to Director, Mark Karelson, the layout of the space in Armour Junction was perfect for the art gallery and event venue. It also has ample parking and is near the active part of the trail to the BeltLine. The location, near Buckhead and Midtown, is right off the expressway, and is easy to get to from anywhere in Atlanta.
“When I met Tom Stokes (president of EpiCity, who owns and manages Armour Junction), I knew this was where we needed to be,” said Mark. “Tom has a vision to make a great go of it and we wanted to be a part of Armour Junction’s success.”
The space was originally an industrial warehouse, with a fair amount cleaned out already, according to Dana Anderson of Planning Interiors, part of EpiCity’s design team. “We needed to create the space for a dual functioning business – during the day, the space is a traditional art gallery, and in the evenings it’s an event venue,” said Dana. “It was tricky to design the aesthetics and functionality of both types of spaces, especially with adhering to all of the different codes.”
The 20,400 square feet plus space includes wide open, high ceilings in the “front of the house” for the art gallery and event venue, and “back of the house” has a catering kitchen, break room, office space, conference room, bridal suite, and general storage. A special feature that was also incorporated was an opening to be able to drive a car through if they were showing a car in the “front of the house.”
Several of the windows and doors were replaced due to age and aesthetics, and lighting was a big part of the renovations, too. The gallery’s focus is a continually evolving selection of high quality contemporary works by regional, national, and international artists. In addition, Mason Fine Art showcases the work of new artists and helps facilitate their further artistic development. Mason Fine Art welcomes private and corporate collectors, and professionals from the decorative arts community.
Mason Fine Art and Events also functions as a world-class venue for special events, corporate parties and charity galas. For more information on Mason Fine Art, please visit www.masonfineartandevents.com.
