Foot Dynamics Celebrates One Year at Powers Ferry Business Park

Foot Dynamics, Inc. was looking for a new space for its office and lab, wanting to move from its dusty warehouse location in Marietta to a space more conducive to its needs. The company was also expanding from its original model of working mainly with doctors to opening a store to also service the consumer directly. Powers Ferry Business Park had the space it needed, at 2,500 SF, and the company opened its store, BioMotion, right across the street. The company was established in 1997 by Rick Martinez, an ABC Board Certified Pedorthist with a master’s degree in Orthopedic Shoe Making from Frankfurt, Germany.

“The Powers Ferry Business office park is immaculate, with beautiful landscaping, and really lifts the morale of our staff,” said Rick. “We like to walk outside and utilize the amenities, including the grill.”

In the onsite lab, Rick and his staff fabricate everything from custom orthotics to custom shoe modifications. The company also does full gait analysis including pressure mapping. Foot Dynamics is one of just a few facilities that aims toward evidence-based solutions.

“The feet are the foundation of the body, and we see everyone from athletes to gardeners to people who are on their feet all day for their jobs,” said Rick. “A pedorthist evaluates the foundation of the body and helps to correct the malalignment. We are like a pharmacist to the podiatrist. The physician writes the diagnosis, and we evaluate and treat.”

Rick became interested in this field and got his start during college when he went with his girlfriend, now wife, to visit her family in Germany. Her father was a shoemaker, and they ended up moving to Germany after he graduated for her to continue her studies and he to become the oldest apprentice in Germany at 25 years old. After completing his seven-year program, they stayed in Germany another three years before moving back to the U.S.

Foot Dynamics is equipped with the latest technology to ensure they assess patients accurately and provide the most effective solutions.

“Whether you have flat feet, aching feet (or knees, hips or back,) or just looking for something to fit your lifestyle (all day comfort or active wear) we will be able to help,” said Rick. “During your initial consultation we’ll use computerized scanning technology as well as perform a gait analysis and foot evaluation to determine exactly what is going on with your feet. We’ll come up with a solution for minimizing or alleviating your foot pain and discomfort.”
